Sometimes it is hard to look at all the upscale furniture pieces in big box stores like Potterybarn. The pieces are so lovely. I drool over them as I go into my happy place. But, reality soon takes its sharp needle and pops my dream bubble forcing me to think outside the box and come up with a high end look on a budget.
So, I am here to share my DIY project with you today. I put my thinking cap on to create this great accent table.
It all started with this gorgeous silver platter. I found it at an estate sale for under $15. I loved the scroll design on the platter itself and the hobnail details on the handles were just icing on the cake! At first, I thought I would hang it on the wall of my kitchen, but then someone twisted my arm to visit TJ Maxx. Ha.
I found this lost little fella in the clearance aisle. I started feeling a bit giddy because in that instant, I knew I could piece the platter with this base and make a one-of-a-kind table. What a great DIY project!
Here is how put the pieces together.
First, I needed to measure to find the middle of the platter. This ensured the platter would be even on all sides of the base. Once this was accomplished it was time to lay the adhesive. I used E6000.
I let it dry for several hours. And that is pretty much the extent of the project. Very simple.
I am very pleased with how this piece turned out. It is the perfect piece to display a mini collection of keys on. And doesn’t it look like a $200 table? Something from Anthropologie perhaps?
What have you been working on?

hi love the table I have my Grandmothers silver(over copper) tea set. Not worth much but would live to use it some how. Have you tried anything out of a coffee or tea urn?
Thanks,
Terri

Terri, thanks for your comment. I will have to get the creative thinking juices flowing regarding a coffee/tea urn. I just recently purchased a set myself. They are so pretty.
